The I. William Zartman North African Travel Award

The I. William Zartman North African Travel Award provides support for North African scholars who have been selected to present a paper at the annual Middle East Studies Association (MESA) meeting. In honor of his many years of service to the Institute and his affection for the scholars of the Maghrib, the award is named after AIMS founding member I. William Zartman. The award is intended for North African scholars living in North Africa. Scholars must be current citizens of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, or Libya.

The Jeanne Jeffers Mrad Graduate Student Travel Award

The Jeanne Jeffers Mrad Graduate Student Travel Awards are for AIMS graduate student members participating in the annual MESA meeting. Students must have been successfully accepted to give a paper at the annual MESA meeting. Paper themes must concern North African studies and all disciplines are welcome.

In honor of her many years of service to AIMS and her sustained encouragement of graduate students through her work at CEMAT, the awards are known as the Jeanne Jeffers Mrad Graduate Student Travel Awards.

AIMS Annual Conference: The Donna Lee Bowen Graduate Student Travel Award

AIMS invites US graduate students to apply for a travel grant to attend the AIMS annual conference in North Africa. Students must have been accepted to give a paper at the Annual Conference.

Applicants must be a US Citizen and a student member of AIMS. Student members of AIMS make up the Graduate Student Association (GSA).

In honor of her many years of service and her sustained encouragement of American graduate students through her work with AIMS, the Graduate Student Travel Award is known as the Donna Lee Bowen Graduate Student Travel Award.

Send title/abstract of paper and a current CV to: aims@aimsnorthafrica.org (2023 closed).

The travel award provides roundtrip airfare up to $1500 in reimbursed air travel to the AIMS conference.
