AIMS at MESA: The I. William Zartman North African Virtual Presentation Award

AIMS invites North African scholars who have been selected to present a paper at the annual MESA meeting to apply for an award for presenting at the conference. In honor of the many years of his service to the Institute and his affection for the scholars of the Maghrib, the award is named the I. William Zartman Travel Award (Virtual Presentation in 2024). Once an applicant has been officially accepted to present at MESA, applicants should then submit the title and abstract of their selected paper along with a current CV to the AIMS US Office by September 16, 2024.

The award is intended for North African scholars living in North Africa. Scholars must be current citizens of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, or Libya. If selected, scholars will receive an award up to $500 for virtual presentation.

Send title/abstract of paper and a current CV to aims@aimsnorthafrica.org by September 16, 2024 with “Zartman Award Submission” in the subject line. Applicants must be current AIMS members.

AIMS at MESA: The Jeanne Jeffers Mrad Graduate Student Virtual Presentation Award

AIMS invites graduate students to apply for an award to participate virtually in the annual MESA meeting. Students must have been successfully accepted to give a paper at the annual MESA meeting. Paper themes must concern North African studies and all disciplines are welcome.

In honor of her many years of service to AIMS and her sustained encouragement of graduate students through her work at CEMAT, the awards are known as the Jeanne Jeffers Mrad Graduate Student Travel Awards (Virtual Presentation in 2024).

AIMS offers awards up to $300 for virtual presentation.

Send title/abstract of paper and a current CV to aims@aimsnorthafrica.org by September 16, 2024 with “Mrad Award Submission” in the subject line. Applicants must be current AIMS members. Applications welcome from all nationalities.

AIMS Annual Conference: The Donna Lee Bowen Graduate Student Travel Award

AIMS invites US graduate students to apply for a travel grant to attend the AIMS annual conference in North Africa. Students must have been accepted to give a paper at the Annual Conference.

Applicants must be a US Citizen and a student member of AIMS. Student members of AIMS make up the Graduate Student Association (GSA).

In honor of her many years of service and her sustained encouragement of American graduate students through her work with AIMS, the Graduate Student Travel Award is known as the Donna Lee Bowen Graduate Student Travel Award.

Send title/abstract of paper and a current CV to: aims@aimsnorthafrica.org (2023 closed).

The travel award provides roundtrip airfare up to $1500 in reimbursed air travel to the AIMS conference.
