The Centre d’Etudes Maghrébines à Tunis (CEMAT) is an office of the American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS) established in 1987 through official agreement with the Government of Tunisia. Located in Tunis, CEMAT advances understanding of the North African region (the Maghrib) to American audiences. CEMAT maintains a specialized library on the Maghrib with works primarily in English. AIMS is a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC).
