The Centre d’Etudes Maghrébines en Algérie (CEMA) is an office of the American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS) established in 2007 through official agreement with the Government of Algeria. Located in Oran, CEMA advances understanding of North Africa (the Maghrib) to American audiences. CEMA maintains a specialized library on the Maghrib with works primarily in English. AIMS is a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC).
CEMA supports social science and humanities projects through its network of American and North African scholars and academic institutions. These include training and mentorship for doctoral students and early career professionals.
